Child Safety Standards
theName (app and website theName.app) — developer and operator: TNAP PLATFORMS PRIVATE LIMITED.
_Draft — counsel to confirm. Last updated: [date]._
theName has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page sets out our standards against it. It applies to everything on theName: clips, posts, videos, comments, profiles, Spaces, messages, calls, Connect mail, listings, reviews, ads, and the websites and apps listed in search.
What is never allowed
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind — real, drawn, edited or made with AI — and links to it.
- Grooming: an adult contacting a minor for sexual reasons, asking a minor for images, or pressuring a minor to keep it secret.
- Sextortion of minors, and the sale, trafficking or sexual exploitation of children.
- Sexualising minors: sexual comments about children, rating their bodies, or sexualised edits of their images.
The full rules are in our Community Rules under "Child safety".
Who can use theName
People must be 18 or older in India and 13 or older elsewhere. Accounts of people under 18 never see adult-only content. [Further protections for teen accounts — to be listed as they ship.]
How we prevent and find it
- Checks before anything goes live. Every public item — and every private post — is checked by our AI before it appears or enters search.
- Fingerprints. Material we have removed is fingerprinted so it can't be uploaded again. [Industry hash lists (NCMEC, Project Arachnid, PhotoDNA, Google's tools) — added once our applications are approved.]
- Encrypted chats and calls. We can't read them. We act on what people report to us, on signals we can see without breaking encryption (profile photos, names, Space names and descriptions) and on behaviour (for example adults mass-messaging minors).
- Limits on new accounts for messaging strangers, posting links and similar actions.
How to report
- In the app: every post, comment, profile, Space, message and listing has Report › Child safety. You don't need to leave the app.
- Online: legal.thename.app.
- Please don't share the material, even to report it.
What we do when we find it
- Hide it at once, from everyone. We don't tell the person who posted it (that could warn them).
- Keep the evidence securely, with access limited and logged, for at least one year.
- A trained, named person reviews it, seeing no more than needed.
- Report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, and to the Indian authorities (the police or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal) for cases linked to India.
- Close the account and check its other uploads and connected accounts.
- Work with law enforcement on any investigation.
The law we follow
- India: Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and its 2020 Rules (reporting duty); Information Technology Act 2000, section 67B; Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021.
- United States: 18 U.S.C. 2258A (reporting to NCMEC), and the federal laws against child sexual exploitation.
- The child-safety laws of every country where theName is available.
